About this site
Hi, I'm Nick...
By day I work in a Corporate IT infrastructure role, and by night I’m often making improvements to my home lab or disappearing down some kind of technical rabbit hole
I've been self hosting for sometime now, it all started with running an Exchange 2003 server far too many years ago. After a long hiatus, in 2020 i picked up my first Raspberry Pi and a NAS which led me down the Docker learning path… and that’s where things escalated.
After spending a lot of time getting things set up, I figured it was time to share some of that experience in the hope it helps others along the way.
I’m interested in running services that are actually useful to me and my family, privacy-respecting tech, automation, and building setups that are secure and reliable without going too overboard! 😀
Expect posts about random issues that took too long to solve, networking, containers, security, and whatever else i try to cross off my never ending list!
This site is partly a reference for future-me, and partly an attempt to fill in the gaps for anyone else who ends up stuck on the same obscure issue.
If something here helps you fix a problem faster than I did, then it’s done its job.
